Local Cuisine Classification for Global Food Delivery — Remote (Croatia)

Are you a native Croatian speaker with a deep understanding of local food and solid English comprehension? Welo Data is seeking contributors for a global food delivery project.

In this freelance role, you will review restaurant menu items written in Croatian and classify them using a standardized taxonomy in Americanized English. Your cultural knowledge and linguistic skills will directly help enhance food category recognition across diverse global markets.

What You Will Do

• Read & Review: Analyze the name, category, and description of menu items written in Croatian.
• Confirm Context: Check the item photo (if available) to visually verify the food type.
• Classify (Dish Label): Assign the most accurate Dish Label from an English-language taxonomy dropdown (e.g., searching keywords like "pasta" or "grilled chicken").
• Categorize (Course Label): Select the appropriate Course Label in English (e.g., Appetizer, Main Course, Side Dish, Dessert, Beverage, Other).
• Add Contextual Notes: Provide a brief note for any items that seem unclear, ambiguous, or highly localized to ensure no data row is left blank.

Project Details

• Status: ASAP
• Duration: 1–2 hours total (up to a maximum of 10 hours)
• Job Type: Freelance / Independent Contractor
• Location: Remote (Must be based in Croatia)
• Language: Croatian & English Comprehension
• Pay Rate: 8.50 $ (per hour)

What We’re Looking For

• Linguistic Background: Native Croatian speaker currently based in Croatia.
• English Comprehension: Strong ability to confidently navigate, read, and select from taxonomy options written in Americanized English.
• Cultural Expertise: Deep familiarity with Croatian restaurant menus, local cuisine terminology, and regional ingredients.
• Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using a web browser to navigate structured data entry tasks.
• Detail-Oriented: A commitment to providing consistent, highly accurate, and quality work.
• Prompt Availability: Ability to complete the assignment within 1–2 business days after receiving system access.
